About Us

Laser Optics, a division of Photonic Products Group, Inc., is an integrated optical
manufacturer of sophisticated optical components and thin film coatings. We supply
optical components and coating services throughout the 0.2 to 16 microns
wavelength range, x-ray wavelength optics, as well as precision assemblies and
subassemblies.

The "new" Laser Optics was formed by combining Laser Optics, an independent
manufacturer of optical components and coatings, with the optical manufacturing
and coating operations of Inrad, Inc. Each company has operated and served the
industry for over 30 years. The result is a manufacturer of custom optics with
unusual breadth and depth of capability: The "new" Laser Optics.

Our company has excelled in the design and production of optics and coatings for
lasers and other demanding applications for the military, industrial, medical and
research markets. We have developed manufacturing technology with unique
techniques, including extensive use of optical contacting for the manufacture of
polarizing optics, waveplates, and high precision etalons. We also have developed
an extensive repertoire of sophisticated optical coatings including anti-reflective,
reflective, polarizing and beamsplitter coatings for the ultraviolet, visible and near
infrared.

We have unique capabilities for manufacture of x-ray monochromators and toroids
that are unsurpassed in performance.


Optical Manufacture: Laser Optics provides fabrication and coating of plano,
spherical, elliptical, toroidal, and prismatic optics from a wide range of glasses, fused
silica, and crystalline materials such as quartz, indium antimonide, zinc selenide, zinc
sulfide, YLF, silicon, and many metals. We fabricate components in sizes ranging
from 0.2" diameter to 30.0" diameter. Our technicians routinely hold figure
tolerances of 1/20th wave or better, angular tolerances of < 1 arc second, and
surface quality of 10/5 or better.

Optical Coatings: Eleven coating chambers, including three large box coaters,
equipped for thermal evaporation, electron beam evaporation and ion assisted
deposition are available for an extensive range of applications and wavelengths. Our
standard range is 248 nm to 6 microns, with specialty jobs ranging from 197 nm out
to 16 microns. Laser Optics has broad experience in the production of custom
coatings, with special expertise in the design of multi-wavelength, wide angle and
polarization specific coatings. The same careful procedures used for coating in-
house manufactured components are available for customer supplied materials
(CSM). A variety of state-of-the-art computational programs facilitate the optical
thin film design process.
